Shoulder Innovations launches new implant

Shoulder Innovations has launched the InSet 95 Humeral Stem implant for enhancing shoulder replacement surgery outcomes.

The new implant is also engineered to improve patient recovery, particularly for those with poor bone quality.

Featuring a unique two-fin design, the InSet 95 Humeral Stem is intended to provide superior rotational control and stability while allowing for precise implant alignment.

The implant’s proximal design is consistent with the inlay humeral design characteristics of Shoulder Innovations’ existing Short Stem and Stemless implants.

Furthermore, InSet 95 has robust fixation capabilities for patients with compromised bone quality, as they provide increased stability and reduce the risk of post-surgical complications.

These capabilities include aggressive proximal coating to ensure reliable proximal fixation, and strong metadiaphyseal fixation to offer additional support, enhancing the implant’s longevity.

Shoulder Innovations CEO Rob Ball said: “Surgeons have enjoyed the use of our InSet platform with best-in-class biomechanics and fixation properties. This additional product introduction provides for more robust options in the OR for surgeons, but maintains seamless and simple integration with the entire platform.”

Designed to be fully and easily convertible, the InSet 95 allows surgeons to convert it to a reverse shoulder arthroplasty without overstuffing risk, maintaining the desired inlay biomechanics.

Orthopaedic Surgeon in San Francisco Mark Schrumpf said: “The InSet 95 stem greatly adds to Shoulder Innovations’ arsenal of innovative products.

“It helps us as shoulder surgeons to better manage patients with poorer quality humeral bone, allowing us to address a greater breadth of patient pathologies as it relates to anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty.”

The InSet 95 Humeral Stem is now accessible to orthopaedic shoulder surgeons in the US.

Last year, Shoulder Innovations secured a first notice of allowance from the US Patent and Trademark Office for the InSet Reverse System.
