Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive medical device quality control-related hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 18%, emerged as the top medical device quality control-related job roles within the medical industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings rising by 39% quarter-on-quarter. Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 49% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent medical device quality control roles include Production Occupations with an 11% share in Q3 2023, Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations with a 11% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in medical industry accounted for 38% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Laboratory Corp of America Holdings, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Quest Diagnostics, Intelerad Medical Systems, and Steris. Together they accounted for a combined share of 38% of all medical device quality control-related new jobs in the medical industry.

Laboratory Corp of America Holdings posted 713 medical device quality control-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Thermo Fisher Scientific 441 jobs, Quest Diagnostics 390 jobs, Intelerad Medical Systems 343 jobs, and Steris 315 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 76.78% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023

The largest share of medical device quality control-related new job postings in the medical industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 76.78% followed by the UK (3.88%) and India (3.18%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 73.22% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
