Leica Microsystems, a subsidiary of medical device conglomerate Danaher, has added Viventis Microscopy to its portfolio.
The company’s Viventis LS2 Live Dual View Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscope uses a patented combination of dual illumination, dual view detection, and multi-position sample analysis.
According to the company, the microscope’s increased spatial-temporal resolution allows researchers to study complex biological systems down to a single-cell level.
Leica Microsystems president Dr Annette Rinck commented: “With Viventis Microscopy joining our strong portfolio, we will empower the global research community to extract this context from 3D models such as organoids and other large samples.
“Indeed, the gentle visualisation of the entire sample volume in organoids with unprecedented detail over time is transforming in-depth functional studies and pushing the boundaries of scientific understanding.”
Viventis began developing its light sheet microscopes in 2016 in collaboration with the Prisca Liberali laboratory at the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel, Switzerland.
