GMLx expands medical device logistics services in Atlanta

GlobalMed Logistix (GMLx) has announced a significant expansion of its Atlanta campus in the US, increasing its operational footprint by 200% and introducing new services.

The expansion, which includes a 65,000ft² facility, comes in response to the growing demand from healthcare companies for GMLx’s medical device experience and third-party logistics services.

The new facility at 1880 and 1890 Beaver Ridge Circle in Norcross, Georgia, completes the 125,000ft² GMLx Atlanta Campus.

GMLx chief operating officer and president Scott Vane said: “Over the past year, we’ve welcomed a remarkable number of team members and supported a record number of customers and transactions. The collective strides we’ve made have not only strengthened our organisation but have positively impacted the customers and patients we serve.”

GMLx’s updated facility is designed to support the company’s growth strategy.

The facility includes an environmental control room to accommodate medical devices with stringent temperature and humidity requirements, as well as a 5,700ft² area for quality control services.

The quality control services at the facility will provide AQL inspections, functional testing, and coordination with suppliers for sterilisation processes.

The expansion also caters to the cold chain logistics needs of GMLx’s customers.

GMLx expects the expansion to allow it to onboard new medical device manufacturer customers and enhance services for existing partners.

The company’s strategic plan for 2024 includes the introduction of more speciality services to meet the medical device industry’s increasing demand for outsourced value-added services.

GMLx sales vice-president Hunter Fleetwood said: “This expansion allows GMLx to continue our focus of providing the best services and service levels in the industry so that our customers can continue to deliver life-changing products to facilities all over the world. Our vision is to positively impact the lives of over one million patients every year and this additional facility is a key factor in helping us achieve that goal.”
